... Fire ... Fire Beyond is one of my favorite series of paintings I've done in 1993, and I still continue working on the same idea. I remember those three or four weeks as a dream like trans. I got this idea how to make quick paintings with ink, water and a rubber roller over my bathtub, on a waterproof board. What was most exciting is that while doing it, I couldn't see what was actually happening on the other side of the paper that was being rolled. I would place colour intuitively on the board soaked in water, place the paper soaked in water as well on top of it, and start rolling. The whole process was intuitive, and the final result that much more exciting. Recently I've heard there is a similar process in some traditional Indian paintings, or maybe Chinese... In any case, somewhere in Asia. I don't know what it is, and would love to learn more about it. If you know anything about it, please contact me.
